Spider-headed Beastman

Spider-headed Beastman
Hit Dice: 2
Armor Class: 5 [14]
Attacks: Bite+poison(2d4) or weapon (1d10)
Saving Throw: 16
Special: Poison(+1 save or die)
Move: 9
Challenge Level/XP: 3/60

Spider-headed beastmen are tall humanoids with spider-like heads. They may
be found both above ground and in subterranean caverns. They form into loosely organized herds, often ranging far from lair in order to steal and kill with rapacious ferocity.

The truth of their orgins fade in to the distant past when an ancient and powerful sorceror conducted several vile experiments on barbarians trying to interbreed them with animals to achive a strong and obedient army to conquer near by kingdom.
Experiments succeeded, but he underestimated their wit. The sorceror died torn apart by his "children" and here the story ends.

Barbaric Frontier is the Blood and Flesh movie

Digital Orc asked, what movie best reflects our games - so here's mine: Blood and Flesh, movie from 1985 directed by Veerhoven starring Rutger Hauer. Great - late medieval swashbuckling story of band of filthy mercenaries.

Wargaming in the Barbaric Frontier

Readers may have noticed that from time to time I post photos of painted miniatures. These are not for rpg sessions. From time to time I like to solo play small skirmish games using Ganesha Games' Song of Blades and Heroes rules. For now I've got three warbands for gaming in the Barbaric Frontier setting:

- Bandits/peasant rebels
- Dwarfs
- Barbarians

Also I'm working on the Neuburg Town Watch warband, and got plans for the skraeling and elven warband,  but these will need some extensive converting for which I do not have neither time nor money at the moment.

Some write-ups of my warbands:

Finished colored map of the Barbaric Frontier

Catacombs of the Sorcerors' dynasty

These are catacombs of a petty dynasty of sorcerors who ruled part of the Barbaric Frontier few hundred years ago. Now forgotten the catacombs lies abandoned covered in dust. Apart from the tombs, adventurers'll find there a shrine dedicated to some old forgotten tentacled good, a death-shrine and a treasury, but what lies beneath? Who knows.

Monsters:
Zombies, mummies, liche, carrion crawlers, oozes, skeletons and maybe few dedicated cultists or cannibals scavenging on the remainings of those who once dared to trespass.

Traps:
Acid pools, dart throwers, spikes, falling roofs, curse glyphs, summoning glyphs etc.
